Mrs. Jeanne Fischer

Jeanne Fischer is privileged and so blessed to be completing her 40th year of

teaching in the Wisconsin Evangelical Synod. Currently, she is serving as the 3rd

grade teacher at St. John’s Lutheran School in Watertown.

Jeanne was born and raised in Watertown, WI. During her elementary years she

attended St. Mark’s Lutheran School, but was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She graduated from Northwestern Prep (presently Luther Prep) in 1978. Then in 1982,

she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Dr. Martin Luther

College (presently Martin Luther College) in New Ulm, MN.

Jeanne’s 40-year teaching ministry began as she first served Salem Lutheran School

in Edmonds, WA, teaching grades 1-7 in a 1-year emergency call. She then taught

grades 3-4 at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Bangor, WI, assisting with coaching

basketball and volleyball. In 1985, Jeanne was called to St. John’s, Watertown, to

teach 2nd grade and assist with coaching duties. During her 37 years of service at

St.John’s, she has also taught 3rd and 4th grade, coached girls’ volleyball for over 35

years, assisted with other athletic duties, and served as mission committee coordinator and

assistant yearbook editor. In 2001, Jeanne was also honored with the Joseph and

Sharon Darcey Outstanding Teacher Award.

In 1988, Jeanne married Tim Fischer, also a native of Watertown. They have been

blessed with 2 daughters, Rachel and Alyssa. Rachel, now married to Dan Bartel, is

living near West Bend with their adorable son, Colton. Alyssa, now engaged to Carter

Buchta, is planning her wedding in August of this year. When she is not at school, you

will find Jeanne doing projects at home, following Wisconsin sports teams, and

enjoying time with her family.

Looking back on these past 40 years, Jeanne is so thankful to God for giving her this

wonderful privilege to serve so many students and families by sharing the love of

Jesus with them almost every day. The words from Proverbs 22:6 have motivated her

to continue in the work God has called her to do, “Train a child in the way he should

go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Her prayer is that the students she has

served will live complete lives of service to the Lord and others, sharing the good news

of Jesus wherever they go.
