Mr. Steven Thies

Steven Thies serves at St. John’s Lutheran School teaching grades 5 and 6. He also serves as the 7-8th grade history teacher and technology director. Prior to his service at St. John’s, he served Bethel Lutheran School in Bay City, MI for 14 of those 15 years.

Mr. Thies graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN in 2002 with a major in Elementary Education and a concentration in social studies for grades K-8. Mr. Thies holds a State Teaching Certificate from the state of Minnesota, as well as his Professional Teaching Certificate from the state of Michigan. In his 15 years of service, Mr. Thies has helped in various areas such as coaching, directing and helping with Vacation Bible School, and working with youth groups. Mr. Thies also enjoyed being a registered basketball official in the state of Michigan for eight years. In July of 2004 he was blessed to be married to Anne (Miller) Thies who has been very supportive and helpful throughout his ministry. Anne has served next to him, helping with the various programs and coaching at their former congregation.

Mr. Thies has a love for the outdoors and nature and enjoys hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and rooting on his favorite team, the Packers. He looks forward to continuing to serve at St. John’s, using his God given talents to help the children and families grow in their faith and knowledge of their awesome Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
