As a family united in faith by the Holy Spirit, we exist to worship and praise the Triune God, to be nurtured through His Word and Sacraments, and to share His love in Christ with others.
Gardening Committee
The Gardening Committee was formed in the 1990’s to better organize the efforts of many different people in keeping the church and school properties beautiful.
Over the years we have had people come and go but a core group of people have remained any have become the foundation that helps to keep this committee operating.
Our mission is seasonal in a way as we start with a planning meeting in late April or early May. We will have a couple of work days to clean up the grounds after the winter, mulch around the flower and shrub areas and then plant our annuals once the weather is warm enough to do so. A watering/weeding work schedule is made out for the summer months. Committee members will select one week intervals to volunteer their time to walk around the church and school watering when and were needed and basically cleaning up the grounds to keep everything looking nice. This will start after planting and run until the first frost in fall. Somewhere along during the summer months, usually late July or early August, we will trim back the shrubs of their annual growth to keep them in shape.
In fall we will gather to cut make the flowers after the first frost and to rake up leaves and once again clean up the properties prior to the first snowfall hopefully.
Funds for our yearly projects come from memorials and donations made to us from various groups and individuals within the church. Committee members themselves donate some items. We cannot thank everyone enough for the generous support we have received over the many years. It is truly appreciated. We would not be able to do what we are able to without that support.
This is a very fun group to work with. Many of our members have been with us from the very beginning and enjoy working together. We always welcome in new members to our group. If you would like to join us, please contact Al or Doreen Heine or the Church Office for more information.
